Let them eat (cup)cake?

Just some cakes I like. I posted the cake companies I was looking at, but here are some of the designs I've found and liked.
So, if you know me, I love cupcakes. I've found a couple cute ideas and I actually found cupcake liners for a great deal in my wedding colors. They say "Let's Celebrate" on the bottom even!
Now, this cake got me thinking ... what about buttons? What if all of these flowers were different fondant buttons. Might be cute ...
[Disclaimer: KRIS ... I'm really trying to do a new post everyday. Not a lot of writing, but I'm trying!]

Save The Dates & Invites

As you might have already read, I love antique keys! I found this fantastic idea on the ruffled blog and I would love to incorporate this style throughout all the paper products in our wedding. A larger part of my budget will be all the paper products.

This is the webpage: http://ruffledblog.com/handmade-vintage-key-save-the-dates/

And I want it all!

Save the Dates
Invitations
(Response Cards)
(Directions & Accommodations)
(Registry Card)
(Additional Information Card)
Wedding Programs
Paper Cones for Petals
Place Cards
Table Signs
Menus
Food Description Signs
Water Bottle Labels
Thank You Cards

I want everything to match! I feel like it will be a big part of the decor of the wedding and visually pleasing. I'm highly considering Red Pearl Designs, which I mentioned before, but it will come down to cost.
I found this key for $1.05 at www.kennedyhardware.com. The only problem I foresee is shipping costs with the weight and what type of envelopes we would use.

P.S. Might be adding that Tiffany Blue color into our Plum Purple and Pale Green :]

{Vintage Elegance}

I finally feel close to a theme for our wedding. I stumbled upon two new blogs today, Ruffled and The Pretty Blog. I keep throwing around words like:
Antique
Vintage
Rustic
Elegant
Handmade
Whimsical
Classic
Romantic
Down-To-Earth
Hopefully I'll have it down in the next two weeks. I'm going to create an idea board with all my ideas so I can visually stay on track. But it all started with this ...
The one thing that encompassed all my ideas was this key. It is a wedding favor, gorgeous in appearance and the end is a bottle opener. Classy and handy? Maybe? I like it.
I am obsessed with these thank you cards. I love the lace design around the top and the ribbon detail. Might be a great paper theme ..
I love these wine glass lampshades. I could most likely make them very easily.
One of the first things Tony and I did around Christmas time was do a puzzle together. I think it's going to be a yearly tradition for our new family. I love the puzzle pieces in the jar, but I also love the fun photo additions. We want to do a photo booth and polaroids that will be inserted in our guestbook.
Chalkboards are going to play largely into our wedding. I'm hoping to find smaller framed boards for table numbers and many different directions.
To keep with a vintage or antique theme, I want to do mason jars or old lemonade jars (maybe some white milk jars?) for either drinks or centerpieces.
I love the small jars strung together in the center left. Gives it a lacy background with baby's breath and other small white flowers.
I love the jar in the middle!
Gorgeous flowers. Very lost in that section so far, but that will all come with time.

Thanks for those of you following. I've already had wonderful feedback and I can't wait to share our special day with many of you. Blessings!

Bridesmaid Dresses

The Jenners, Serena, my fiance and I went on a short wedding trip on Friday. We tried to stop by The Aerie but they were having an all day event. We at least got to see the outside and the tent. We also stopped at the Clackamas Mall and looked at different department store dresses. While we were there, I turned in my ring to Kay. I lost a small diamond a week ago, it takes 2 weeks to fix. I have a fake one until then.

Anyways, we ended up close to a David's Bridal. I hadn't thought of my friends trying any on for months, but I had one in mind. Stacie got to try it on with the store's baby bump. Little lumpy but was kinda helpful.
Serena and Stacie + lumpy baby (they would be in dark purple). Super flattering on everyone!
My maid of honor would have a sash around the middle. It would be the opposite of the shown: purple dress, green sash. Oh, and it had very fun pockets :]

I love this dress, but it's $140!!! They had an online $60 sale for the exact color I wanted, but it went off-sale over the weekend. Also, this dress is being used in many weddings. One of my bridesmaids already purchased it for her cousin's wedding this summer. She would have to buy the same one. My friend Kirstin is also wearing the green in a wedding this summer. I'm hoping to find the same style at JC Penny's or Macy's for around $50.

The search continues ...

Cutest Cake Toppers

I felt pretty silly when I bought a magazine that was more of a wedding catalog for $10 last weekend. But it had wonderful ideas and the cutest cake toppers! They're all hand painted and are around $35. Here are my favorites.

"Hooked on Love" & "Read my Sign"
"Couch Potato" (just him) & "#1 Fan" (just me)
"Wife Wears the Pants" & "Picture Perfect"
"A Kiss and they're off" & "A Cinderella Moment"
"Showered with Love" FAVORITE!

We could just do letters ...
It would be T S K, but my last initial will be the same, not quite as fun.

The Other Venues

So, there are TWO other venues I'm looking at. I finally have it down to four different locations, none of which Tony has seen yet (I've only seen two). We'll be visiting all four hopefully in the next week. But for now the list stands.
1. The Aerie
2. West End Theatre
3. Willamette Valley Vineyards
4. Camas Meadows (in WA, sales tax sucks!)

Their online brochure for your viewing pleasure.
Happy Valley, OR - About 45 minutes from Newberg
Very elegant buildings and landscape (it is a golf course ya know).
I would want an indoor ceremony or tented ceremony (shown in brochure).
Outdoor/indoor reception and cocktail hour.
They have a dance floor inside, but this space will do as well.
Tented ceremony would be nice, but might be too hot! We're shooting for August.

Camas, WA - About 45 minutes from Newberg
Once again, indoor ceremony, so we would be standing at the far end of this room.
I can't get over how gorgeous this tent is! I would love an outdoor tented reception.
The BIG DOWNSIDE: Camas Meadows does in-house catering which is not very impressive and would cost about $6500 just for food (no drinks or alcohol) with sales tax and included 20% tip. I love this location, I just don't know if I can justify that cost. Plus, I already love premiere catering and I can use them at either West End Theatre or The Aerie.

Anyways, there's another update. Glad to keep all the pictures in one place. The search continues!

Wedding Wear

So many people have been asking for an update. I've had this draft saved, but I haven't had time to edit it. I haven't done much planning in the last week, but I've been comparing locations. I'll do another post about it soon.
Wedding Dress
Of course, I can't post my dress on this, my sneaky fiance might see it! But, he does know it's ivory and has lace detail. If YOU would like to see it, email or facebook me, I'll send you the link!
I found it the day after I got engaged. I know ... crazy fast! I already had what I wanted in mind and at the Portland Bridal Show I got a coupon for $150 if I made an appointment. I made it for the next day and poof, all set.
Bridesmaids
Bridesmaid dresses in dark purple. On the David's Bridal website in Lapis
Random shoes. I just like them, but I fully understand my poor bridesmaids would not love how high the left shoe is. I just like the style.

Groom & Groomsmen
Tony and I were thinking tan suits or just khaki slacks with dress shirts and ties for the wedding. We are not going with traditional black tuxes, we like creamy or brown colors to accent the purple and green. Tony will completely pick out his own suit, so I don't know much about his.

All I have to say is thank goodness for Men's Warehouse deals. Since I signed up at the bridal show, we get $40 each tux rental, 6th free or a gift card for $150 towards a tux rental or $400 towards a purchase of a suit. Lucky us!

So Tony likes green shirts with purple ties. I like it the other way around. Guess we'll figure it out later.

Much planning to be done. Thanks for following!
